Thanksgiving

I love this holiday!! My whole family comes together in one house (20+ people in one place). We all get together and make the meals while enjoying each others company.
Once the table is set, and people begin sitting down on thursday is when the true beauty shows. Everyone is happy, and the food and decorations are awesome!

The Placement of Art.

Why does it matter how art is displayed?

If all the art was on one wall, cramped, then it would not be presentable. This was shown at the High. The pieces were spread out and framed by the red walls. 

Just think, what if all these pieces were hung slanted, not centered or placed neatly, then the High would not have a good reputation, and they would make the artwork look bad as well.

MOMA

The Museum of Modern Art's website is very unique for such a well known place. The home page is constantly changing information on their calendar, membership, visitors with disabilities, courses and internships, the architecture of modern kitchen, group visits, and much more information.
However, once you "explore" through the different galleries, you learn what is inside this place. They have exhibitions, films, multimedia, collections of art, photography, and more.
The website seems to draw you into the museum just enough to get you hooked, but you seem to not get enough out of this. This leaves you feeling like you MUST go visit the museum. (which is probably to purpose)

Mona Lisa

Do you think that the Mona Lisa would have been as famous if it wasn't at the Louve? What if she was at some other location. I personally do not think that this painting is very well. I like the history behind he portrait. However, I do not think that is it very good art, and probably does not deserve to be where it is.
But, people from all over the world come to Paris to see the Mona Lisa. And I am guilty of this as well. Why do we flock to these works of art in famous places?

Art in Museums

After reading and discussing Duncan's argument, I began thinking more about what was being said.
"Right from the start, some observers were already concerned that the museum ambience could change the meanings of the objects held, redefining them as works of art and narrowing their import simply by removing them from their original settings and obscuring their formal uses."

So why is art all of a sudden important after it is on exhibit in a museum?

can anything be public art?

After our presentations, I began thinking about what is public art exactly. I know that we discussed this in class and the beginning of this topic; however this question as struck me again. Could computers in the library be art? Could a student's notes be art? Could a webpage be considered public art?

In my opinion, the answer to all of these questions in yes. They are available for many people to view, so yes they are public art. A webpage is defiantly public art because anyone can see this online resource, even though it isn't a physical piece of art.
